Dedicated to the memory of Joyce Newman

This site is a tribute to Joyce Eleanor Newman, who sadly passed away on Sunday 17th October at the age of 95.

Joyce was a loving Mum and Nan, and was much loved by a big family, friends, and the wider Walthamstow community.

Joyce lived in Walthamstow all her life, coming through the Second World War, and was married to Jim for 53 years before he sadly died in 2007. She was best known in Walthamstow for working for many years on the family bacon stall and then Stevie Brown's banana stall when the high street was at its prime. Before then she also ran a newsagents in Tottenham with Jim just up the road from the Spurs ground, and would regularly tell us how all the Spurs players and manager Bill Nicholson were customers there.

She wouldn't have wanted us to be upset, please smile as you remember a true East End character who lived a full, long and happy life.

Please feel free to share your memories of and tributes to Joyce in the contribute section below.

Joyce was a staunch supporter of Barnardo's children's charity over the years, please feel free to make a donation to the charity in Joyce's memory using the 'Donate' button if you so wish.
